A GREENOCK man charged with carrying out an alleged serious assault has had his night-time bail curfew adjusted to allow him to spend more time with his family.

Gary Rodgers, 36, is accused of brandishing a knife at another man before allegedly repeatedly striking him on the head and body with poles and a bottle, or similar implements.

The alleged attack is said to have occurred at his home on Auchmead Road after midnight on June 21 last year.

Defence lawyer Gerry Keenan told Greenock Sheriff Court that his client had been on a 7pm to 7am curfew for nearly a year, adding: "He has shared parental responsibilities."

Sheriff Joseph Hughes adjusted the curfew to 9pm to 6am.

The assault case is due to call again at the court on June 15.
