DETECTIVES have launched a probe after a man was found dead at a flat in Port Glasgow.

Two men, aged 46 and 35, have been arrested by officers in connection with the grim find at an address on Mackie Avenue.

Police say that the death, which was reported at around 3.30pm on Sunday, is currently being treated as 'unexplained'.

Officers are continuing with their enquiries and say they are keen to hear from anyone in the community who has any information on the incident.

The area around Mackie Avenue was sealed off by the police shortly after the body was discovered.

Officers stood guard outside the flat overnight and onlookers were shocked to see a lot of police activity in the quiet street.

Forensic officers in white protective suits were also seen moving in and out of the property.

A police van arrived outside the flat after the incident and remained there yesterday.

An eyewitness told the Tele: "There was a bit of commotion in the afternoon and then a police van appeared outside the flat and it was there for hours.

"There was a lot of police activity so it was clear that something serious was going on."
