Residents at Balclutha Court enjoyed a visit from The Not Forgotten, a charity who entertain veterans and nursing homes.

The group set up in the Forsyth Street car park and provided an afternoon of entertainment with old school songs, music and fun.

Resident Rose Kane said: "Staff here have been brilliant throughout lockdown putting on all kind of different events to keep us entertained, we have been very well looked after but it is lovely to have some live entertainment again.

"It feels like another step on the road back to normality."

Balclutha deputy manager Julie Wilson said: "It is great to be able to open up our gardens again and have some live entertainment for our residents.

"We have really missed being able to welcome performers into our home during lockdown, although we've had lots of virtual concerts, quizzes and talks.

"It's lovely to be able to host events in the garden again now that lockdown is easing and the weather is getting warmer."

Activities co-ordinator Karen Dillon told the Tele: "We had such a wonderful day and got quite emotional - it's actually difficult to put into words just how amazing it was to get back outside and do something like that with the residents.

"We still had to restrict the numbers in the garden, but just seeing them have such a great time and enjoy the music was brilliant.

"It was really special and it feels like we're finally getting somewhere now, with lockdown restrictions easing."
