A PIONEERING project helping young people find work after the pandemic will be run from a local housing association's new premises.

Oak Tree Housing will move into their new home, the former registry office in West Stewart Street, later this year.

Office manager Kirsty Davis and the team are working closely with Robert Dowds, who is co-ordinating the Pathways to Construction programme funded by the Scottish Government's Investing in Communities Fund.

Mr Dowds said: "It is great to be involved in this and Oak Tree are committed to the scheme."

In the next year the £220,000 project will give 19 young people aged 17 to 24 a chance to work and learn new skills.

It includes jobs indoors and outside, with a squad based at Maple Road upgrading the area.
