A GREENOCK weapon-accused man is set for trial charged with possession of a 'makeshift bladed and pointed article'.

James Cameron, 45, is said to have committed the alleged offence at an address on Sinclair Street last August.

Cameron, of the Inverclyde Centre, is also on a deferred sentence for breaching a night-time bail curfew.

He has pleaded not guilty to the weapon charge through lawyer Gerry Keenan at the sheriff court.

The trial and deferred sentence matter are due to call on July 7.
