A GREENOCK man charged with possession of indecent images of children says the two photos appeared on his mobile phone without his knowledge or input via a messaging app.
Steven Wilkin, 38, has pleaded not guilty to allegations of having a pair of category C images and one 'depicting bestiality'.
Defence lawyer David Tod told the sheriff court: "Mr Wilkin is part of a WhatsApp group and it is his belief that the images could have been introduced to his phone through the group.
"It would appear that this could be a possibility."
Mr Wilkin, of James Watt Way, is said to have committed the alleged offences between May 19 and December 19 in 2019.
A trial which was scheduled to start on Monday has been postponed until December, to allow solicitor Mr Tod to instruct an expert report.
