COUNCILLOR David Wilson says the decision by the Scottish Government to ban a cruise ship from docking in Greenock is an 'absolute disgrace'.
He said that everyone on the liner had two vaccinations and stated there was 'no reason' why it shouldn't dock.
Councillor Wilson added that Inverclyde Council should be challenging the Scottish Government over its decisions.
He said: "I know people who had booked to sail down to Southampton - the attraction was to get on and alight the ship in Greenock.
"Another chap paid £1,500 for a four day cruise within Britain on the Virtuosa.
"The policies of the Scottish Government have been so inconsistent."
Inverclyde is currently in Level 1, but the Scottish Government says domestic cruises can only restart when that applies right across the country.
