A MAN is facing court accused of carrying a knife in Greenock's Oak Mall.

Police officers stopped the suspect after noting he was acting suspiciously in the shopping centre on Thursday at around 12.40pm.

They carried out a search and found him to be in possession of a lock-back knife.

Community Inspector Andrew Durk said: "It's unacceptable to carry an item like this in public and people who do so will be robustly targeted by police. Their actions can put lives at risk".

The 29-year-old man was charged with carrying an offensive weapon and will appear in court at a later date.
