A PORT Glasgow charity is appealing for volunteers to join its board of directors.

The Muirshiel Centre has recently re-opened after supporting clients during lockdown.

It is now on the lookout for new blood to extend the good work being done in the community.

Chair John Hutchison said: "We are delighted that we are back open. It's been a long time.

"We feel it is very much needed in the community.

"We have obviously had to change the way we do things but through our outreach work we were still able to help."

Board member Jim McLaughlan said: "It's the only place in Port Glasgow where people with disabilities can come, we pick them up and drop them off home, so it is easy for them.

"As a day centre we are not that well known and we would like more people to know about us and the work we do."

Both men have close links with the centre, - John's late father, also John, and Jim's late wife Jeanette came to the centre.

Other board members include Charlie McLauchlin and Anne Price.

John said: "We are looking to increase the board membership."

If anyone is interested in joining they should call 745115.
