AN MSP from Greenock has called on local residents to take up their vaccine invitations and engage in ‘one final push’ to keep coronavirus infection rates down and boost protection levels.
Around 52,000 people, 81 per cent of Inverclyde residents aged eighteen or above, have received at least one jag.
Just over half have received two doses.
The push aimed at young people is also well under way, with 28.9 per cent of those aged 18-29 having already received their first jab.
Mr Greene said: “With one final push we can drive down the infection rate and accelerate our progress towards reducing restrictions.
“My message to people who missed their appointment is to rearrange it as soon as possible.
“I would also urge people who are nervous about getting the jab because of misinformation to look at reputable sources, as the overwhelming evidence is that the jab is safe and will help protect you from the virus."
