SOCIAL care chiefs are having to alter existing children's homes in Inverclyde to increase the number of bedrooms.
Work is under way to adapt the residential units following a change in legislation.
Looked after children in Scotland now stay in care until they are older.
In a report chief officer Louise Long said: "This creates an additional financial and operational pressure on this service.
"Plans are in place to address that and as part of that initiative existing homes are being adapted to increase bedroom capacity."
