A LOCAL Conservative politician has slammed Scottish Government plans to extend Covid-19 laws in Scotland.

West Scotland MSP Jamie Greene claims the SNP is seeking to pass emergency legislation without 'proper consultation'.

In April last year, Holyrood voted for new laws which made changes to the justice system - including the early release of prisoners if the virus was causing issues within the prison service, the rental sector and the function of public bodies.

The laws were extended on two occasions and could now be carried over to next year.

Mr Greene said: "There is little justification for rushing through these so-called 'temporary' Covid laws well into 2022 in what marks a brazen overreach by the SNP government."
