MORTON have swooped to sign Jack Hamilton as their new goalkeeper.

Gus MacPherson has secured the signature of the former Dundee and Scotland under-21 goalkeeper on a one-year-deal.

The 27-year-old ex-Hearts custodian becomes the Ton manager’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Alan Lithgow, Mark Russell and Gozie Ugwu.

Hamilton was part of the Dundee squad that won promotion last season – featuring 18 times for the Dark Blues whilst competing with former Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley keeper Adam Legzdins.

He then left Tayside in the search for regular first team football and had travelled to Northern Ireland as part of Kilmarnock’s pre-season training camp, before Rugby Park boss Tommy Wright opted to sign former Chelsea stopper Sam Walker.

MacPherson had been in the market for an experienced shot stopper after last term’s player of the year Aidan McAdams rejected the chance to stay at Ton in favour of a switch to Ayr United.

Hamilton, who has solid experience having made 110 appearances in his career so far, will feature in Ton’s friendly against Lowland League side Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood Stadium tonight and he is set to make his competitive debut against Stranraer on Saturday at Stair Park in the Premier Sports Cup.
