A MAN charged with attempted theft from Inverclyde's Criminal Justice Department HQ in Port Glasgow is set to stand trial nearly three years after the alleged offence.

Kieren Grey is said to have concealed a torch and tried to steal the item from the premises on the town's Ardgowan Street on January 30, 2019.

Grey, of Brachelston Street, Greenock, is further accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, repeatedly shouting, swearing and following another man on the same date.

He pleaded not guilty at the sheriff court through lawyer Edel McGinty.

The case is due to call again on November 30.
