FAMILY and friends marked the eleventh anniversary of the death of brave Greenock soldier Stephen Monkhouse on Wednesday.
Lance Corporal Monkhouse of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards was killed providing cover for his comrades to help a wounded soldier to safety at Lashkar Gah, Afghanistan, on July 21 in 2010.
He was also a drummer in the pipes and drums and was just 28 when he died.
His actions earned him a posthumous Military Cross, one of the highest honours awarded to British soldiers.
