THIRTEEN Inverclyde Amateur Swimming Club members made a successful return to racing.

The Festival of Swimming event saw swimmers across the country getting back to what they do best and IASC were at the heart of the action.

The event ran across three venues - Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen - with all of IASC competitors swimming at Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow.

It was fantastic to see to see so many swimmers race again and connecting with their friends and other clubs.

In order for the meet to run smoothly, strict Covid-19 guidelines were in place, however, all the swimmers took it in their stride.

All 13 swimmers enjoyed the feel of being back in the racing environment, and embraced the opportunity.

There were some fantastic swims over the weekend.

Over the three days the club saw members achieve 15 top 10 finishes in Scotland.

Aimee Watson made a big splash with three first places, one second place finish and sixth place.

Matthew Garrity also excelled with three second-place finishes and two fourth places finishes.

Mirren McConnell took fourth spot and sixth place in her races.

Luke Garrity and Molly Cannon were also on form, with a 10th place finish and an eighth place finish respectively.

Head coach Shirley Reford said: "I am absolutely over the moon with every performance from each and every competitor over the weekend.

"Lots of learning and great racing experience was had by all.

"All the swimmers were outstanding and it was a pleasure to be their coach."

Coaches can’t wait to see what is next on the competition calendar.
