A PLAN to add a large balcony to a house in Kilmacolm looks set to be given the green light - despite a raft of complaints.

The owners of Langdale, a detached villa set within a site covering approximately 1,350 square metres on the south-west side of Bridge of Weir Road, want to build the raised platform at first floor level on the rear of the building.

Plans show it would be 5.5 metres across and extending out from the rear elevation by three metres, accessed by a new set of stairs.

A number of residents have complained about the proposal, with 13 objections received by council planners.

Locals' concerns centre around the scale, size and design of the project, as well as the fact it could overlook neighbouring properties and have a possible impact on the amenity of other homes nearby.

Council planners have however recommended that the plan is approved.

Councillors will have the final say when it the application goes before them on August 4.
