A ROBBERY accused man is set for trial in front of a jury charged with forcing his way into a Port Glasgow flat and stealing cash and medication.

John Thompson, 43, is further accused of tampering with potential evidence in an alleged attempt to pervert the course of justice.

Prosecutors say he forced entry to a property on Wilson Street, made threats of violence and demands for money on March 26.

It is alleged that Thompson proceeded to rob a man of his TV and a laptop computer as well as a quantity of money and medication.

He is said to have later refused to provide police with an item of his clothing at Greenock police office before allegedly urinating on it in a claimed bid to avoid detection and prosecution.

Thompson — who is remanded in custody — has pleaded not guilty to the indictment charges and is due to stand trial on the matters in November.
