THE Telegraph's appeal in aid of Inverclyde Foodbank has attracted a phenomenal response from our kind readers.
We have teamed up with long-standing local firm Dallas Carpets to help restock the shelves at the vital charity after a surge in demand during the coronavirus crisis.
A special bag was inserted into every copy of the Tele on Wednesday for people to fill with items to help feed struggling families - and we have been swamped with donations since.
Greenock schoolgirl Alexa Docherty, 11, and her granda Robert Steele, 73, were among those showing their support as they dropped off bags packed with lots of essentials.
Tele editor Brian Hossack said: "The people of Inverclyde are renowned for their generosity and once again they have shown just how kind and caring they are.
"We have been inundated with donations for the appeal and it is so heartening to see.
"Thank-you to everyone who has made a donation so far and also to our sponsors Dallas Carpets for their wonderful backing."
Donations can still be dropped off - the Tele office is open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and Inverclyde Foodbank, 64 West Blackhall Street, Greenock, is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday from 1-4pm.
