GOUROCK Golf Club is teeing up an opportunity to give all young people a chance to come and try the game.

General manager Allan Warwick and his team have arranged an event as part of the town's community sports hub open day this Sunday.

It is part of the council's Summer of Fun 21 programme, where the aim is to give young people a chance to try a wide range of activities in the town.

Golf club general manager Allan said: "This is about opening up opportunities and we are very proud to be part of this open day.

"I will be here to register all the young people who come along and they will get a chance to try activities on the day.

"We will give young people depending on age a chance at the indoor studio and we have an academy and our development officer Andy Newman will be here.

"There could also be a chance for a voucher for them to come back and play.

"We now have our indoor studio available since restrictions lift and our academy is starting again, so there are lots of opportunities here."

The Inverclyde Bothy, who offer cycling and walking activities from their base in the town' railway station, will also be represented at the golf club and giving out information.

Gourock Community Sports Hub is working to bring clubs in the town together to support one another and promote them.

They are also teaming up with the Active Schools staff to get young people involved.

Other clubs involved in the open day will be Gourock Park Bowling Club and football club Gourock YAC.

Young people aged up to 25 can visit the golf club from 3-6pm.

All the clubs will also be running follow-up opportunities over the next four weeks in a bid to boost participation levels.
