AROUND 4,500 children in Inverclyde will be affected by the UK Government's move to cut universal credit.
Local families who rely on the benefit are set to lose the £20 extra weekly payment which was introduced at the start of the pandemic.
Charities fighting poverty have hit out at the decision, saying it will increase hardship for 23 per cent of children in Inverclyde who live in poverty.
