A PAIR of out-of-town shoplifters who targeted Port Glasgow's retail park and stole £475 worth of merchandise in raids on two stores have been fined a total of £900 between them.

Dawn Donaghy, 38, and Melanie Brand, 32, stole handbags, cosmetics and household items from Next and TK Maxx in April 2019.

Sheriff David Hall branded Donaghy's record 'appalling' and told her: "You are so near to going to prison."

The sheriff added: "Clearly you are both travelling around and committing shoplifting offences."

Donaghy and Brand, whose addresses were not given in court, were each fined £450 and allowed to pay up at a rate of £20 per month.

On leaving the dock Donaghy said: "Thank-you. Have a nice day."
