GOUROCK Golf Club recently staged the Guintoli Trophy, a junior open competition that dates back to the mid 1970s.

The club was delighted to see an entry of over 20 boys and girls taking part, including juniors travelling from the other Inverclyde clubs as well as further afield.

Neil Rainey of Erskine took first place with a score of 86, with Callum Graham, of the same club, second after carding a 91, the same score as third place Kobe Phillips, of West Kilbride.

There was a great atmosphere around the club and on the course, with Amazon Gourock sponsoring the event.

Gillian Maxwell came along on the day and presented the prizes, pictured.

The event was the culmination of a busy season for the junior section at Gourock under the committed leadership of convener Ian Samuel. Plans are well advanced for a programme of autumn and winter events to make sure the club keeps developing its young golfers.
