MSP Jamie Greene has hit out over the new ferry order snub for Ferguson's shipyard.
When he confronted First Minister Nicola Sturgeon over the decision at Holyrood, she said that Ferguson Marine yard was on a 'journey to recovery'
Conservative Mr Greene said: “This ferry contract could have provided many years of good work for people in Port Glasgow and right across Inverclyde.
“Instead, the jobs will now likely go to yards overseas, raising serious questions about the long-term prospects for Clyde shipbuilding.
“I proudly raised this issue directly with the First Minister in a high profile question session in our parliament whilst the local SNP MSP sat at the back sheepishly apologetic and silent on the matter.
“I am horrified that the First Minister’s head-in-the-sand approach to her government’s actions will offer zero comfort or reassurance to the workforce in our shipyards."
