A LOCAL councillor has welcomed the news that more Afghan families are coming to Inverclyde.
Jim MacLeod says people in the area are well known for their kindness and warmth in supporting refugee families.
Councillor MacLeod said: "People and communities in Inverclyde have an excellent record of welcoming refugees, as we have seen in past years with Afghan and Syrian families.
"It is good to see that we are welcoming more just now and that there are proposals to welcome another 28 families.
"I am also pleased to see that local people are helping by collecting supplies to help the refugees who have recently settled in the area."
