A FAMILY has been left in mourning after a Port Glasgow man took ill and died during the Orange Lodge marches in Glasgow at the weekend.

John Graham, who was secretary of the Port Glasgow District branch of the organisation, passed away after taking unwell during the procession in the city.

The Grand Orange Lodge Scotland issued a statement expressing its sympathy to the loved ones of the 68-year-old.

Grand master Jim McHarg passed on his condolences to Mr Graham's family.

Mr McHarg said in a statement: "I express the condolences of the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland to the family and friends of Brother John Graham, district secretary of Port Glasgow District LOL 19, who sadly passed away during the Glasgow procession."

Emergency had crews rushed to Tradeston Street at around 10.50am after the Port man fell ill and the alarm was raised.

An ambulance crew and police officers attended but Mr Graham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sudden death is not being treated as suspicious and a routine report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The street was closed for some time following the events.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11am on Saturday, a 68-year-old man became unwell while on Tradeston Street in Glasgow.

"An ambulance attended, however sadly the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent."
