A SUPERSTAR soprano from Gourock is set to return to the stage in style at a new Scottish festival.

Classical musician Alison McNeill, who is also fiddler and singer in the award-winning folk rock band Reely Jiggered, will perform at the historic Paisley Abbey as part of the Tannahill Arts Festival.

The singing sensation will perform alongside pianist Toni James, who she previously studied alongside.

Alison told the Tele: "This is a brand new festival which aims to celebrate the arts and heritage of Paisley.

"It will take in historical landmarks in the area and I am fortunate enough to be performing in the Abbey.

"The main aim is to prove that you can be a performer that is both local and international at the same time.

"I'm so excited to work with Toni, it'll be brilliant."

Alison and Toni will perform music of Spanish composers Joaquín Rodrigo and Antón García Abril, Vincenzo Bellini and Franz Lehár on Thursday September 30.

As well as taking part as a soloist, Alison will take to the stage alongside sister Fiona and their bandmate Scott McLean to open the festival.

She continued: "We will be performing our Tricky Terrain album in full, the first time we'll have had the chance to do that.

"We're playing in the Oakshaw Trinity Church which is an excellent venue.

"This is our first indoor festival since the pandemic, it is great to be back."

The band, who have performed in venues and festivals across the globe, also have upcoming gigs at the Barrowlands and Room 2 in Glasgow.

Alison added: "We're starting to really pick up again with gigs and have already been in talks with festival organisers for 2022.

"There's a lot of things happening now and so much to look forward to."
