A SCOTTISH trade union leader has backed a proposal to save a dormant dry dock in Greenock.
Inchgreen dry dock has lain unused for years, but it is hoped trade union backing will help secure a future for the struggling site.
Speaking at the eighth annual Jimmy Reid Memorial Lecture in Glasgow, Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) general secretary Rozanne Foyer agreed to pursue trade union, shipbuilding and marine representation on the Clyde Mission, the Scottish Government's programme to drive growth along the Clyde.
Launched last year, the Clyde Mission has access to £10m of funding through the Clyde Mission fund, and campaigners hope that some of this funding can allocated to help regenerate Inchgreen.
