A COURAGEOUS Skelmorlie mum raised more than £6,000 for charity by completing the London Marathon in memory of her dad.

Carol Currie ran in honour of her father Ronnie Moir, who passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer 15 years ago.

She completed the 26-mile course in four hours and 45 minutes, raising £6,263 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Carol, who works at Station Bar in Wemyss Bay, was supported by her husband Richie and daughter Millie on the day.

Carol, 37, said: "I was overcome with emotion when I reached the finishing line.

"It was an amazing experience.

"The atmosphere was incredible and the crowd really helped me get round.

"This was one of the biggest challenges of my life but I knew my dad was there with me every step of the way.

"I'd like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who donated and helped me raise so much money."
