SEVEN trees are to be cut down outside a local school after council planners have permission.

The council has given permission for a Sycamore, a Laurel, three Ash trees, a Goat Willow and a Holly tree at St Columba's Junior School in Kilmacolm to be removed, once checks for any nesting birds are completed.

A nearby Horse Chestnut tree will also be reduced in size by around a third and its crown will be thinned.
