A PORT Glasgow firm that plays a key role in Scotland's whisky industry has signed up to a global 'go green' campaign.

McLaren Packaging has joined the United Nations' Race to Zero initiative, which encourages companies to reduce their carbon footprint.

The firm have already installed 375kW of solar panels at their local base to produce renewable energy and invested heavily in recycling equipment.

Founded in 1979, McLaren supplies a range of paper-based packaging to the Scottish whisky industry, with annual revenues of £35m.
