A MAN is fighting for life today following what police describe as an 'incident' in Larkfield.
The 50-year-old was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where his condition is said to be 'critical'.
A man aged 23 is currently in police custody and has been charged, although detectives have not yet said what he has been charged with.
He was arrested in the wake of a series of incidents on Burns Road, Cambridge Road and Norfolk Road yesterday morning.
Police were alerted to the disturbances at around 9.30am.
The seriously injured 50-year-old was hurt at Norfolk Road's junction with Broadford Terrace.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with disturbances in Greenock and is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, 18 October, 2021.
“The incidents happened around 9.30am on Saturday, 16 October, in Burns Road, Cambridge Road and Norfolk Road in the town.
“A 50-year-old man was seriously injured in Norfolk Road at the junction with Broadford Terrace.
“He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as critical.”
