AN attack on a 50-year-old man who is today fighting for life in hospital is being treated as attempted murder, the Telegraph understands.
A man aged 23 is in police custody and due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court tomorrow.
The stricken 50-year-old was found with serious and life threatening injuries in Larkfield yesterday morning.
Police were called to the scene at the junction of Norfolk Road and Broadford Terrace at 9.30am.
It followed a series of incidents on Burns Road, Cambridge Road and Norfolk Road.
The injured man is receiving emergency treatment by medics at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his condition is described as 'critical'.
