A car has flipped onto its roof on a busy Glasgow road.

Part of the Clydeside Expressway in the city's west end has been closed to traffic after the car collided with a lampost at around 12.05pm on Sunday.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are on the scene, with videos on social media showing major tailbacks.

Officers have closed the A814 eastbound to all traffic between Hayburn Street interchange and Finnieston Street onramp, and are warning of significant delays.

It is not yet known if there are any injuries.

A statement from Glasgow City Council's traffic team reads: "The emergency services are currently dealing with an accident on the A814/Clydeside Expressway eastbound carriageway between the Glasgow Harbour and Finnieston Street.

"An overturned car is on its roof and the road is currently closed to all eastbound traffic.

"Police have now closed the A814 eastbound to all traffic between Hayburn Street interchange and Finnieston Street onramp.

"Road users should expect delays on all approaching routes."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 12.05pm on Sunday, 17 October, officers were called to the Clydeside Expressway in Glasgow, following a report of a crash involving a car and a lamppost.

"Diversions are in place whilst recovery is arranged.”

It's the second crash to occur in the country's central belt in a matter of hours.

We reported this morning that a section of Scotland's busiest motorway has been closed after a 'serious' crash.

Emergency services are in attendance at junction 4 of the M8 after receiving reports of a crash between two vehicles at around 9.50am.

Traffic Scotland advised that the road has been completely closed, with westbound traffic being taken off at J14 and rejoining at junction 5.
