A MONUMENT dedicated to one of Scotland's most famous sons will be unveiled in Port Glasgow on Saturday.
The team behind the Wallace Oak Project will finally reveal their log-awaited tribute to William Wallace in the grounds of the Holy Family Church.
A grey granite sculpture in the shape of a tree trunk will form the centrepiece of the monument, in the spot where the knight was chained to an oak tree in 1305.
Scottish folk singer Alastair McDonald and Tartan Army hero Ted Christopher will be performing at the event.
There will also be speeches from Stuart McMillan MSP, from Gary Stewart, convenor of The Society of William Wallace, dendrochronologist Dr Coralie Mills, and from Stuart Duncan and Neil Lochiel from the Wallace Oak Project.
The 13 finalists selected in the Port Glasgow primary schools poetry competition will also be there, as will medieval Scottish knights in full regalia.
Proceedings will begin at 2pm.
