TWO new female recruits have applied to join the street pastor team as they re-start patrols in Inverclyde.

The pair will have to undergo training before joining their colleagues to offer support and a listening ear.

Co-ordinator Alistair McAlees said: ‘We are very pleased to have these two ladies applying to join.

"Our numbers have recently fallen for a variety of reasons and we’re very keen to add to our teams.

"In addition, we sadly lost one Street Pastor from illness recently.

"We are now operating in Greenock, Port Glasgow and Gourock at weekends and hope to have our Rail Pastors back on the trains shortly, but would love to hear from anyone who is thinking about being a Street Pastor and able to help our communities in this way."
