ALL Inverclyde councillors have been invited to take part in an online training safety training course.
It has been run by police in the wake of the fatal attack on Sir David Amess MP at his constituency surgery in Essex.
Councillor Ciano Rebecchi signed up for the training and is urging others to do the same.
He said: "I found it very beneficial but also sad that it was necessary.
"Jo Cox was killed and now David Amess - whether you agree with people's politics, they are using their time to try and make their area a better place.
"It's the same with councillors, you can have a different opinion but people are only doing a job and perhaps some people might think if it's worth it.
"People are doing their best."
Councillor Rebecchi added that the council's health and safety officer will be reviewing safety at surgery venues.
