A CHILDREN'S charity has received a cash boost from the area's MSP.

Stuart McMillan has regularly supported Children in Poverty in Inverclyde and has now donated almost £1,000 to boost their coffers.

The latest £100 award was from Ipsos Mori, with Mr McMillan able to donate the cash to a charity of his choice.

He said: "Since I was first elected in 2007, I have always supported local organisations.

"In the last four years in particular, I have focused on foodbanks, the i58 Project and Church Angels.

"I am very supportive of Children in Poverty and I wrote a letter of support to the Morrisons Foundation when the applied to it for help buying a holiday cottage in Dunoon."

Pat Burke, chairman of Children in Poverty Inverclyde, said: "Over last five years, Stuart has always been behind us and we are thankful for this latest cash boost."
