AN Inverclyde pro golfer left rivals green with envy as he scooped a top title at one of the most famous courses in the world.

Robbie Morrison is celebrating after his triumph in the Tartan Pro Tour championship at Carnoustie.

He tied with Rhys Thompson and ended up in a play off, but due to failing daylight the title was shared between the two.

A round of 66 on the final day, including a birdie on the 18th, helped Robbie take the honour.

Robbie, who is a member of Kilmacolm Golf Club, says he's very proud of his achievement.

He said: "It all just clicked on the day.

"I really didn't expect to win, so it was a brilliant surprise.

"I'm pleased that I did so well in what was the final event of the year."

Robbie grew up in Inverclyde and he moved to Australia when he was 13.

He moved back to Inverclyde in March 2020, just as the coronavirus pandemic took hold.

The golf ace says travelling the world is one of his favourite parts of his profession.

But he says his home club has a special place in his heart.

Robbie, 25, said: "I love the travelling side of golf and finding out about different cultures and different courses.

"But it's always great to come back to Kilmacolm after weeks on the road on a tour.

"There's always something about your home course."

Robbie says he may play a few winter events in Scotland before the end of the year and he plans to go to the state-of-the-art Education City development in Qatar for a two-week practice holiday in February.

He also plans to get fitter with help from First Tee Fitness and wants to nurture the next generation of talent by dedicating time to helping young golfers in Inverclyde.

Robbie added: "I love being home and love being involved with the club.

"I'm looking forward to helping future junior players come through the ranks."
