Each week our photographer George Munro gives his take on the events in Inverclyde that he has photographed.

Brown Bin Extensions

Greenock Telegraph:

We didn't need COP26 to make us realise hedges and trees are holding onto their leaves longer due to higher autumn temperatures, so it was only a matter of time before folks would request their garden waste wheelie bin season to be lengthened. Tele reporter Gordon McCracken and I visited Kilmacolm to meet some residents who are asking for an added extension to the brown bin lifting season into the winter.

Whinhill Vandalism

Greenock Telegraph:

It was sad to see vandalism at Whinhill Golf Course after mindless thugs drove a quadbike over the lovingly manicured greens. Police are now investigating after deep ruts were carved into the greens by thoughtless off-roaders.

Yorkshire Building Society

Greenock Telegraph:

In an age when many banks are running away from highstreets across the land, it is refreshing to see Greenock's Yorkshire Building Society celebrate their 50th birthday at their current location on West Blackhall Street. I took this picture of staff as they pledged to maintain face-to-face contact with customers and prepared to hold a birthday raffle to raise funds for Age UK.

Floody Hell

Greenock Telegraph:

Although there has not yet been significantly heavy and sustained rainfall this winter, Gourock councillor Lynne Quinn pointed out flooding in a car park off the town's Shore Street that was so deep it was preventing residents from using it. The councillor stood by the shin-deep water in this picture, taken days after the last rain fell.
