SERVICE has resumed at a Greenock tennis club after a £54,000 resurfacing project.
Members at Ardgowan are able to play again after courts closed in October to allow the new surface to be laid.
Work took longer than expected due to wet weather, but it is now in place - and members are already noticing the difference.
Jim Cleland, convenor and treasurer at Ardgowan, said: "On the old courts you'd sometimes get weird bounces, but this is so much better.
"We're really pleased and happy we've managed to get it done.
"The members are enjoying playing on the new courts."
The club were able to fund the work through a variety of grants - including a £30,000 award from EB Scotland and £10,000 from Inverclyde Council.
Ardgowan Bowling Club and Awards for All provided £5,000 each, with an additional £1,000 coming from the Inverclyde Communities Fund.
The work is only the beginning of the club's plans to revamp the courts. Funding is being sought from Tennis Scotland to pay for automated entry devices which would allow those who want to use them to pay to play via an app.
Repairing the court fencing and improving disabled access are also key parts of the club's plans going forward.
