GOUROCK footballer Lewis Morgan says he's excited to start his new adventure in the Big Apple after completing a $1.2 million move from Inter Miami to New York Red Bulls.
The 25-year-old former Celtic attacker first joined David Beckham’s franchise in January 2020, winning their most valuable player award in his first season Stateside.
The move comes after Miami were order to pay a record fine for breaching MLS financial rules after signing French World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi.
Morgan says he's delighted to swap the Sunshine State for New York City as he believes the Red Bulls' system will suit his game to a tee.
He told the Tele: “I’m also going to a place that I feel is a real exciting project. It came to work out for everyone.
“When I heard there was a possibility I was being traded and then I heard it was New York, it was exciting.
“Obviously at Miami we always had a tough time against Red Bulls.
“That high-pressing style and energy is really going to suit my game. Everyone knows the one non-negotiable with me is my work-rate.
“They have a young, exciting squad.
“They will get the best out of me because the system that Red Bulls play is going to fit me and I can play higher up the pitch again.
“Everyone would agree it's where I played my best football, so I’m looking forward to that.”
