A GREENOCK west end couple have been charged with wilful child neglect.

Anthony Edwards, 48, and Roseanne Edwards, 38, are facing a series of allegations, including a claim they took two youngsters to the homes of drug dealers.

They are said to have failed to provide a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old with sufficient food, electricity and suitable living conditions.

The couple also had 'physical altercations' at their Eldon Street home in the presence of the children, prosecutors say.

A sheriff court charge against them claims that they engaged in the alleged neglect over a period spanning six months.

The Crown says that the couple wilfully neglected the children 'in a manner likely to cause them unnecessary suffering or injury to health'.

It is claimed that they had the youngsters accompany them to the homes of drug users and drug suppliers — and also used controlled drugs in their presence.

The alleged offences are said to have been committed between April 1 and September 30 of 2020.

Roseanne Edwards has been separately charged with fraud.

She is accused of pretending to be someone else and inducing credit card company Aqua into opening an account under the false name.

It is alleged that Edwards fraudulently used the card at an address on Cumberland Road in Larkfield to obtain monies or goods to the value of £419.70 on February 12, 2020.

She is said to have been on bail with regard to another criminal matter at the time of this alleged offence.

The couple, of Eldon Court, Eldon Street, have had pleas of not guilty to all of the charges against them tendered on their behalf at the sheriff court by lawyer Aidan Gallagher.

Both cases are due to call again in April, with trials scheduled to take place in May.
