A DRIVER is facing prosecution after failing a roadside drug test in Gourock.
Inverclyde police officers stopped a van on Shore Street at 10.30am on Tuesday.
When speaking to the driver, officers suspected he was intoxicated.
Their report says he failed a roadside drug screening test.
Officers say they also conducted a search of the vehicle and a quantity of drugs, believed to be cannabis, was recovered.
The 50-year-old man was arrested and is now the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.
Chief Inspector Paul Cameron said: "I remain committed to ensuring the roads of Inverclyde are as safe as possible.
"People who drive under the influence of drink and drugs are a danger to themselves and to other road users."
