A YOUNG dance star from Greenock is flying the flag for Scotland as she makes it all the way to the World Cup.

Unity Dance Project star Megan Sweeney has a won place at this year's global contest in San Sebastian, Spain.

The talented 12-year-old's jazz, contemporary and acro routines secured her a spot at the Dance World Cup 2022.

It topped off a fantastic year for the school as they recently came home from the World Lyrical Dance Federation with more silverware.

Dance teacher and owner Kerri Hair said: "I am so proud of all the girls.

"They are fantastic and we are like a family.

"I want to congratulate Megan on making the World Cup, she is a phenomenal dancer and such a lovely girl as well - they all are.

"It has been a hugely successful year for the school, considering for the last two years we have had to take so many classes online.

"They have been so committed."

Megan was one of 3,000 hopefuls from the UK hoping to make it to the Spanish showdown in June.

She has helped inspire other dancers from the school as they competed in the World Lyrical Dance Federation Winterfest in Beith.

"It is such a brilliant, friendly and inclusive school."
