DESPITE the best efforts of Inverclyde Royal's hardworking staff, the hospital's A&E department only managed to hit the Scottish Government target once last year.
Weekly figures for the whole of 2021 show that the hospital only met the Scottish Government's target of 95 per cent of A&E patients waiting less than four hours before being either admitted, discharged or transferred between May 16-23.
The graph below shows the weekly percentage of patients seen within four hours of arrival at the IRH in 2021, and also illustrated how close the hospital came to meeting the Scottish Government target on each occasion.
