INVERCLYDE Libraries turned a new page with its first Bookbug event of 2022 at Gourock Library.

Tots from across Inverclyde have been having a ball taking part in a range of socially-distanced singing, rhyming and storytelling at their local libraries.

Joined by their friends and family, the youngsters have been singing popular rhymes like Humpty Dumpty in the stimulating sessions.

Each Bookbug session lasts between 30 and 40 minutes and they are designed to support children's development while letting them have fun.

The need for masks and distancing did not put a dampener on the sessions and the tots who attended had a great time.

Mum Chiara McKitterick, who had come along to Gourock Library with her son one-year-old son Mikey, told the Tele that both of her children loved Bookbug,

She said: "I came to Bookbug with my daughter too, so I've been coming along for about three years.

"It's such a great session and the kids really enjoy themselves.

"It's good for the parents too, it gives us a chance to see other adults and people who are in the same situation.

"I just love seeing the smile on my wee boy's face when he's taking part.

"I really miss Bookbug when it isn't on, it's got such a lovely atmosphere."

Bookbug is also taking place at Greenock Central, South West, Inverkip & Wemyss Bay and Port Glasgow.
