A GREENOCK man has been charged with assaulting a police officer to severe injury.
Dennis Morgan, 29, is accused of repeatedly kicking and punching the PC on the body after allegedly struggling violently with him.
Prosecutors say Morgan attacked the officer on Bow Road on May 27 last year.
He and co-accused Patrick Flynn, 40, are said to have both been shouting, swearing and repeatedly uttering offensive and threatening remarks.
Morgan, of Tasker Street, and Flynn, of Bow Road, have pleaded not guilty to the allegations through lawyers Aidan Gallagher and Paul Keenan at the sheriff court.
A trial is scheduled to take place on February 7.
