CULTURAL enthusiasts enjoyed a new perspective of their town with a guided sculpture walk.

Artist Maya Rose Edwards, pictured, is a visual artist on residence with Inverclyde Culture Collective, supported by Creative Scotland.

She organised the event and led the walk

Maya told the Telegraph: "It incorporates three sculptural happenings one of which was ‘An Alternative Guide to Birdwatching’. An installation of 12 mirrored bird sculptures around Greenock each which bare the line of a poem, encouraging different approaches to the mapping of public space.

"The guided tour was a real success, and I thank every single person for coming along for the ride.

"The temporary sculpture trail will remain for a further week, so if people get the chance they can still take the trail and have a chance to reflect at each site. Hopefully they will meet some fellow wanderers on their way.

The group started at Rig Arts Studio and ended at Broomhill Gardens.

Karen Orr of Rig Arts, who took part, said: "It took us all a bit longer than expected as everyone was sharing stories inspired by the quotes.

"I really enjoyed it."

Maya will be in residence for another week and will be hosting some casting workshops for young people at Rig Arts Studios which will form part of a light installation at The Tobacco Warehouse.
