MORTON are mulling an appeal over Dougie Imrie's 10 game ban over historical betting breaches.

The Ton boss will be sidelined for his team's next six games, with the remaining four of his punishment suspended until the end of next season.

The 38-year-old was cited by SFA chiefs last month for breaching rules on betting on football games over a period between 2011 and 2019.

A judicial panel issued the punishment following a hearing yesterday, but Morton are unhappy with the penalty and have indicated they may challenge it.

A statement said: "The club are disappointed with the severity of the punishment despite the representations made on Dougie’s behalf by the club and Dougie himself.

"The club have requested a full explanation from the panel for the reasons behind their decision. Upon receipt of that explanation, the club will discuss with Dougie the possibility of an appeal against this decision.

"We will be making no further comment at this time, but the club board would like to reaffirm its backing of Dougie in this process."
